Google Pixel, Daydream View VR Headsets In One Package For Preorders?

The Google Nexus line is truly no more, with the Google Pixel's existence now officially announced alongside other like the new Daydream View VR headset; initial release of both devices are also set to come together in one package with the Daydream View set to be included with preorders of the Google Pixel.

Tuesday, Oct. 4 marked the official announcement by Google of the successor to its Google Nexus family of devices; the Google Pixel. Unlike the Google Nexus which was developed by third parties in conjunction with the Android operating system progenitor, the Google Pixel was developed all under Google's own roof and preordering the device will also include the newly announced Daydream View VR headset according to The Verge.

According to the Google store, the Google Pixel will cost a whopping $650 while the Daydream View VR headset will run for an approximate $80 although Android fans can get both devices for the price of the Google Pixel by simply preordering the smartphone. Similar to the Samsung Gear VR headset, the Daydream View is Google's attempt to ride in on the VR market wave by creating a VR headset that adapts a smartphone as a VR device.

With Google's Daydream VR headset, users can simply stick their smartphones into the device and experience VR without shelling out hundreds of dollars for an Oculus Rift or an HTC Vice. Presumably, Google is hoping that Android users will make use the Google Pixel's improved capabilities to indulge in their VR dreams by offering the package promo.

According to Google's chief of development for the VR platform, Clay Bavor, the Google Pixel is the first "Daydream-ready" smartphone with the capabilities to easily handle VR on the mobile platform. "Powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, Daydream-ready phones are built with high-resolution displays, powerful mobile processors and high-fidelity sensors-all tuned to support great VR experiences" and can be found in the new Google Pixel line.

The Google Pixel and Daydream View promo bundle will only go until supplies last, meaning that those who want to make use of it should do so as soon as possible. No news yet on the actual release date for the Google Pixel smartphone although the Daydream VR will reportedly arrive next month.
