7-Year-Old Girl Goes To School Worrying About Parents Unresponsive And Tells Bus Driver, Police Believe They Died Of Drug Overdose

A 7-year-old girl went to school and worried all day that her parents did not wake up when she left for school in the morning. She then told the bus driver, and police were called finding them dead in their home possibly due to drug overdose.

The family lived in an apartment outside of Pittsburgh and the incident took place on Monday morning. McKeesport, Pennsylvania police officials said that the girl talked about her parents when she was on the bus ride home. The parents were identified as 26-year-old Christopher Dilly and 25-year-old Jessica Lally. Aside from the 7-year-old, she has three more siblings, a 5-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a nine-month-old, The Washington Post reported.

The children were not injured or did not show signs of injuries, but they were still taken to a hospital to be checked. The siblings were then placed in the county's Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

Blasting News also reported that Pennsylvania has been having a public health crisis regarding opioid drug epidemic. "There is an opioid overdose epidemic in the U.S., and Allegheny County is not immune," County Health officials said in a statement. Last year, 422 opioid overdose deaths were recorded on Allegheny County, including McKeesport.

The death of the parents of the 7-year-old was reportedly the second people they responded to in the area in less than 24 hours.

Weeks ago, a mother was seen lying unresponsive in a Family Dollar store in Massachusetts. Her daughter, 2, was seen crying and trying to wake her mother up. She reportedly overdosed. She has been charged with child endangerment.

Last month, a man and a woman were seen unresponsive inside a vehicle with a young boy at the backseat. The 4-year-old was restrained in a car seat while the adults overdosed. Another photo went viral showing an officer holding a one-month-old baby after the child's father died of drug overdose while the mother was found near dead.
