Verizon, Google Confirm All Pixel Phones Will Receive Timely Updates

The Pixel lineup is by far one of the best Smartphones out in the market. With its sophisticated and premium design, above par features paired with Google's DNA, it looks like the Pixel and Pixel XL will definitely be able to live up to the hype that it will dethrone the Nexus. But things have just gotten better with the carrier's new plans.

Engadget noted that Verizon, the sole provider of the Pixel in the United States, has ensured the public that the Pixel smartphones will receive all the latest Android updates the same time Google comes out with an update. The website quoted Verizon's statement that "all operating system and security updates to the Pixel devices will happen in partnership with Google".

This recent news coming from Verizon debunks previous reports that Verizon subscribers who opted for the Pixel wouldn't get Android updates at the same time as their unlocked counterparts. But now with this, Pixel owners need not worry since Verizon and Google will now be working side by side to streamline the latest sweet servings of the latest Android Operating System.

Upon purchase, Verizon's Pixel handsets will be unlocked, said Engadget. The phones will also come with "three pre-installed apps, all of which can be uninstalled by the user" if they find them south of useful. This is a good sign coming from Verizon considering their history of packing a Smartphone with apps that cannot be installed and delayed Android updates.

Google meanwhile confirmed that the Pixel units coming from Verizon will receive updates simultaneously. It said that "OS updates and monthly security patches will be updated on all Pixel devices," including non-Verizon handsets. While these statements are pretty straightforward, it is still worth a try. Google and Verizon are off to end 2016 on a good note, and there's big hope that they will continue a good partnership in 2017 and beyond.
