‘This Is Us’ Episode 3 Spoilers: Hate On Miguel Ill-Deserved? Potential Rip On Rebecca & Randall’s Relationship

Episode two of "This Is Us" presented a gut-punch twist in the end, showcasing present-day grandma Rebecca (Mandy Moore) visiting Randall's (Sterling K. Brown) house not with Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) but with Miguel (Jon Huertas), who the kids enthusiastically call grandpa.

Viewers were outraged, given how Rebecca and Jack's relationship was beautifully portrayed in "This Is Us" flashbacks. It led many to ask questions about what happened and where Jack is in present time. Did he die? Did Rebecca and Jack get divorced? What problems did they encounter along the way that forced them to part ways?

The cast weighed in on the Jack-Rebecca-Miguel issue during an interview with Entertainment Weekly and they're also not happy with how everything turned out. But they also want "This Is Us" viewers to know the backstory first and lay off of Miguel for a while.

Moore said that she has a "vague idea" about what happened to Rebecca and Jack, adding that she felt betrayed when her character ended up with Miguel in the long run. However, something definitely happened between the two and viewers will know what that is soon.

Ventimiglia echoed his "This Is Us" co-star's remarks, saying that what occurred in the present day all originated from Rebecca and Jack. The actor advised viewers to be patient, though he acknowledged that the audience's outrage is "the perfect emotional response."

"I'm happy that people were slamming me with question marks, but at the same time, it's a moment where I feel like as storytellers, all questions will be answered. You just gotta wait," Ventimiglia continued.

Brown, who plays Randall, said that what happened between Rebecca and Jack on "This Is Us" is similar to what other couples in real-life go through. Miguel, however, was the one who received the entire backlash. He was, after all, Jack's closest friend and confidante, so how dare he set his sights on his best pal's wife?

Brown stressed that the whole backstory is still unknown. The actor said that viewers should give Miguel "a chance" because he deserves it.

The future episodes of "This Is Us" will also showcase the consequences of Rebecca's actions regarding William (Ron Cephas Jones), Randall's biological father. More than 30 years ago, Rebecca made a deal with William to not make contact with Randall, but that promise was broken by him. Randall doesn't know Rebecca's deal with William yet but when he does, it's likely that his relationship with his adoptive mother would be shaken.

"This Is Us" returns for its fourth episode on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 9 PM on NBC. Watch the promo for "The Pool" below.
