‘Hannibal’ Season 4 [AIR DATE, LATEST NEWS UPDATES]: Could ‘Hannibal’ Reboot Still Happen? Writer Nick Antosca Reveals Creator Bryan Fuller’s ‘Brilliant’ Plans

Ever since "Hannibal" was cancelled after three seasons last year, fans have remained hopeful for the possibility of a reboot, especially when talks circulated that the series will continue on another media platform or a different network. Based on several reports in June, "Hannibal" showrunner Bryan Fuller hinted that the rights to the upcoming fourth installment of "Hannibal" might open in August 2017.

Fortunately, writer Nick Antosca also believed that there's a "strong possibility" that "Hannibal" season 4 will happen next year. Antosca, who was the series' cowriter throughout the third season, shared some positive thoughts on the upcoming installment, Bustle noted.

During Antosca's interview with HitFix, the writer admitted that he can't share any specific detail about the possibility of "Hannibal" season 4. However, Antosca shared that showrunner Bryan Fuller has a "very clear and brilliant" plan on what's in store for the upcoming season.

Despite the optimism on the possibility of "Hannibal" season 4, there are still some skepticisms about the future of the series, where questions about which network it would air the reboot and the show's air date have been raised online. Since NBC cancelled the show and NetFlix didn't save it, it's safe to assume that Amazon Prime, which held the series' streaming rights, could be a potential media platform.

As for "Hannibal" season 4 air date, the series may not be happening soon. The reason? Well, Fuller and the main cast of the series, Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen are also very busy on their respective projects - Dancy with his Hulu series, "The Path" and Mikkelsen with his movies, "Doctor Strange" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Meanwhile, Parent Herald has previously reported that Fuller has admitted that the plot for "Hannibal" season has long been prepared. Fuller even revealed that the cast has been very excited on what the next installment has to offer.

There have also been speculations about the introduction of Clarice Starling, Jodie Foster's character in the film, in "Hannibal" season 4. Unfortunately, the rights to the character were not available and Dancy also hinted that the upcoming installment (if it would push through) will be a total reboot and would not depict "the Clarice or 'Silence of the Lambs' storyline."
