How Much Galaxies And Stars The Universe Have Will Bend The Mind

Contrary to what scientists have believed, the universe does not contain a hundred billion galaxies. The billion count is a grave underestimate as the universe contains 20 to 30 times more than that, astronomers from United Kingdom confirmed.

From an estimated 100 billion, the universe is confirmed to be made up of one to three trillion galaxies which have been observed via Hubble Space telescope. Astronomers from University of Nottingham lead by Christopher Conselice confirmed the rather big news, says a report from Gizmodo.

This latest galaxy count is so far true for what the Hubble telescope can only observe-the so-called galaxies that are inside the Hubble Bubble. Of the latest count, only 10 percent of the galaxies have been explored.

Conselice and his team came up with the conclusion by utilizing deep space photos taken with the Hubble telescope. The team merged other researchers' data and were converted into three-dimensional images.

As if one to three trillion is not mind-boggling enough, the astronomers further said that the latest count would affect estimated count for other celestial bodies. Per European Space Agency, total number of stars is in Milky Way galaxy alone is estimatedly 100 thousand million.

An estimate from Space.com noted that the number of stars in the universe can possibly be around 1 with 24 zeroes after it. The estimate is assuming that there are 10 trillion galaxies and that each galaxy had the same count as Milky Way Galaxy's stars which is 100 billion.

Given the latest data, total number of stars would be assumed to reach up to a whopping 700 sextillion. To give a context of how much 700 sextillion is, it's 7 followed by 23 zeroes after it. Or, it roughly translates to 700 thousand billion then multiply it with another billion.

A billion galaxy count is humongous; a hundred billion is astonishing. How much more would be for 700 sextillion? Unimaginable. It makes human think what more are out the beyond.

What can you say about the wonders of the universe? Do you think there is someone like the human race? Share your thoughts below!
