'Star Wars' Company Slapped With Almost $2 Million Fine Over Harrison Ford's Accident On-Set?

'Star Wars' production company, Foodles Production Ltd. is owned by Disney and it is specifically for the production of 'Star Wars' films. During the filming of 'Star Wars : The Force Awakens', Harrison Ford had an accident which resulted his leg to get broken.

The UK court has order the 'Star Wars' production company a fine of almost $2 million for two violations and pleading guilty to the Health and Safety at Work Act. However, even if Disney is the main owner of the company, they are not being charged of the incident, according to Movie Fone.

When the accident happened, Harrison Ford had to undergo surgery and the production had to be paused for two weeks for him to recover. The incident occurred on the 12th of June in 2014 at the Pinewood Studios based in London.

The prosecutors said that due to the door that fell on him, the force could have killed the actor, Harrison Ford. The judge at Aylesbury Crown Court, Judge Francis Sheridan, has released a statement saying Harrison Ford should have been informed about the risks so he could have been more alert about the dangers that came with the filming, according to Business Insider.

Harrison Ford suffered a dislocated ankle and his fibula and fibula were fractured badly due to the incident. The door that slammed the 'Star Wars' actor was a hydraulic door and described as "blunt guillotine" that is capable of killing a person.

Noodles Production Ltd. has released a statement saying their main priority is always the safety of the cast and crew. The 'Star Wars' company has also expressed regret over the incident that happened while filming 'Star Wars : The Force Awakens'.

'Star Wars : The Force Awakens' has earned more than $2 billion during its worldwide screening that made the film with the highest gross. Another episode, Episode VIII is set to screen in cinemas in 2017 of December. The spin off of the franchise, Rogue One, is set to hit the UK cinemas this coming December 16th of this year.
