Nokia Latest News, Rumors: D1C 13.8inch Tablet Spotted; Runs on Android Nougat, Qualcomm 430 Chip Inside [VIDEO]

Surprises are what make the tech industry so appealing to its followers. In more ways than none, they know that rumors remain to be as such until proven otherwise. Even if they are tons of leaked images, designs and whatnot, new devices such as Nokia's D1C will radiate curiosity up to the point that prying eyes will go on ends to spot the next big hint.

In cases like this should arise, benchmarking is a tool that could spell whether or not a certain product will demand the hype their companies like it to have. Nokia, the Finnish phone maker that once ruled the digital world, is now but a mere spectator in the field that they previously held in their hands.

Today, Nokia is shaking things up a bit with the D1C that was supposed to be a Smartphone. In fact, the D1C scored well in a recent listing, managing to tally a 656 in single-core performance and a noteworthy 3120 in multi-core testing; however, just when we thought that the Nokia D1C could fit in our pockets, a new development came to light.

As reported by The TeCake, the Nokia D1C is not a Smartphone, but a tablet. It is a 13.8inch slab with full HD capability, 3GB RAM and a 1.4GHz octa-core processor. Obviously, the previous benchmark forgot to include the size of Nokia's newest invention that it was mistaken to be a Smartphone. Rightfully so, the tablet will still run on Google's Android 7.0 Nougat, just like when it was first tested.

Another benchmark, this time from Antutu, provided additional information about the Nokia D1C. It disclosed that its processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, while onboard memory will come in at 32GB.

There will also be a 13megapixel rear camera and a corresponding 8megapixel up front. HMD Global will be in charge of "creating Nokia-branded Android mobile phones and tablets for the next 10 years." If the partnership goes well, it's a safe bet that Nokia is aiming to get back on track and regain its lost glory.
