LSU Is Still On Fire Even Without Running Back Fournette, But With New Offensive Coach?

Louisiana State University (LSU) continues to dominate the football field. LSU is impressively displaying that their team's explosive offensive scheme is still to be reckoned with even without superstar running back Leonard Fournette.

LSU running back superstar is still recuperating from his ankle injury. Even though Fournette has missed three of the Tiger's six games, he is healthy and ready to be back. According to LSU Interim Coach Ed Oregon, Fournette is ready to return.

Steve Ensminger was a former LSU quarterback. Ensminger was promoted as new offensive coordinator with Ed Orgeron taking over as interim coach, after Les Miles' firing last September.

Meanwhile, D.J. Chark, an LSU receiver who had an 80-yard touchdown catch and 19-yard scoring run in a 45-10 victory over Southern Mississippi last weekend, stated in Fox Sports news that Coach Ensminger is aggressive. "We knew he [Ensminger] was going to take his shots down the field," added the LSU receiver. Moreover, he reported that wide receivers did something on Saturday that fans have been waiting for. Also, coach Ensminger gave them the opportunity to make plays that seemed really worked for the LSU team.

Herald Courier Sports stated that during the two games, LSU coaching had changed. LSU has scored seven touchdowns of more than 20 yards. Five of those statistics came from the second half last week and three of them went for more than 60 yards. Some of the big gains have come from the rooster running back Derrius Guice, a fast and elusive ball carrier who is finding bigger gaps in the opponent's defense. This is attributed to the way LSU's offense which has begun to spread defenses out.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said that in terms of balance, LSU's is different. The Miss head coach added, "They're using the skill they have at the wide receiver position very, very well."
