Xiaomi Latest Rumors, Specs, Release Date: MI MIX Comes With 91.3% ‘Screen-To-Body’ Display Ratio, Snapdragon 821 CPU

Concept devices have this tendency to awe us with fresh new ideas that come out of nowhere. Some are tangible, while some are simply out of this planet. Xiaomi's recent unveil comes with a little bit of both: the MI MIX is looking like to be the mobile communication device of tomorrow.

In its recent Beijing Live Event, Xiaomi, the fourth largest Smartphone producer in the world, announced the arrival of the MI MIX. Rightfully so, the upcoming device mixed every good thing the tech world has offered so far: it is a stunning 6.4inch device with what The Verge considered to be a "very sci-fi" 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. It also included Xiaomi's decision to give the MI MIX a ceramic back cover and side buttons.

More science is involved in the Xiaomi MI MIX as far as design and innovation is concerned. All top sensors have been removed, including the proximity sensor, the earpiece and the front facing camera. The sensor was replaced by ultrasound, while the earpiece is now a "piezoelectric speaker" that generates sound from the device's metal body. The camera meanwhile was transferred on the lower right portion of the MI MIX.

On the inside of Xiaomi's latest masterpiece is the latest in SoC technology. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor will run the show, together with a 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage. Xiaomi will likewise offer a premium blend with a 6GB RAM and 256GB memory with "18-karat gold accents" around its 16megapixel camera and fingerprint scanner. French designer extraordinaire Philippe Starck took the helm in designing the Xiaomi MI MIX.

Android Authority meanwhile is suggesting that the Xiaomi MI MIX will be available at around $516 for the 4GB/128GB combo, and $590 for the 6GB/256GB and gold accented version. In the same event, Xiaomi also released the Mi Note 2, a "high-performance phablet" that has the same dual-edge curved display screen of the defunct Samsung Galaxy Note 7. There's no word as to when the Xiaomi MI MIX will be available in the United States, but it is scheduled to be on sale in China on November 4.
