'Sherlock' Season 4 Spoilers, Cast News & Air Date: 'Outlander' Star Sam Heughan To Join Cast?

Is "Sherlock" Season 4 getting a new character in the form of a dashing Highland warrior? Due to a Twitter conversation with show creator Mark Gatiss, fans are now speculating that Sam Heughan will be joining the cast of "Sherlock" Season 4.

Although nothing has been confirmed by the show's producers, the internet seems to be abuzz with "Sherlock" Season 4 spoilers, saying that Heughan is all set to be cast as the third Holmes brother in the acclaimed series, as reported by Enstarz. Heughan stars in the well-received "Outlander" as James Fraser, a warrior who finds romance with World War 2 nurse Claire Randall.

The "Outlander" role has brought much respect for Heughan. Even though the producers thought that casting James Fraser would be difficult, Heughan's audition was impressive enough for him to get the role.

Fans are speculating that the role of Sherrinford Holmes, the eldest of the brothers, will also be given to the actor.The eldest brother is said to be smarter than Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes, and some spoilers say that in "Sherlock" Season 4, he will be the real villain the story.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is starring in the titular role of the new Marvel movie "Doctor Strange" which will be showing in theaters soon, actually said that "Sherlock" Season 4 might be too dramatic for fans, according to the Irish Examiner.

The show itself has already been bombarded by cancellation rumors for its fifth season, despite the fact that "Sherlock" Season 4 is yet to air. But according to Cumberbatch, the detective drama is not going anywhere. He said there may be longer gaps between seasons, but to say that "Sherlock" will be cancelled after Season 4 is not true.
