'Westworld' Season 1, 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Spoilers, Cast & News Update: 'Winds of Winter' Writer Martin Urges For HBO Series' Crossover?

If it were up for "Winds of Winter" writer, George R.R. Martin, he would like fans of "Game of Thrones" and "Westworld" get some treat of a crossover. The prolific writer expressed the idea of merging the futuristic West and Westeros, according to "Westworld" co-creator, Jonathan Nolan.

Long before "Westworld" even premiered, the seasoned writer pitched the idea to Nolan and his co-writer, Lisa Joy, as per an Entertainment Weekly report. Martin actually said the brilliant but hard-to-reach idea of replacing one amusement park in "Westworld" into a park patterned to the setting of "Game of Thrones."

"We love George," Nolan said. "He's a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it's flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky."

However, the showrunners think that there are still some hurdles to get over for "Westworld" before leaping into a bold idea that Martin offered. "We've got an awful lot of material to cover just with Westworld, but you want to stay tuned..." Nolan said.

The HBO sci-fi thriller series, "Westworld," premiered just last Oct. 2 starring Evan Rachel Wood (as Dolores), Thandie Newton (as Maeve), Jeffrey Wright (as Bernard) among others. In a separate Entertainment Weekly report, the futuristic 1973 film reboot series did a solid job in the ratings department since it debuted on the small screen.

For its season premiere, it received 12 million viewers, a big hit for HBO and better viewership than "Game of Thrones" in its first season. Currently, "Westworld" is still yet to be renewed for next seasons but that should not be a cause of worry at all, considering that it can come neck-on-neck with "The Walking Dead."

Meanwhile, "Game of Thrones" will be hitting its seventh season next year and even before it premieres, lots of leaks sprawled the internet just this week. In a report by Parent Herald, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will witness the momentous collide of King Jon and Queen Daenerys. The last episode of George R.R. Martin-inspired series will also reportedly reveal that Jon is indeed a true-blood Targaryen, and that he will engage in an incestuous sex with the queen herself.
