NFL News: Cowboys QB Tony Romo Participates In Throwing Drills During Team Practice

Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo showed up on practice last Wednesday, and participated in throwing drills. To recall, Romo broke a bone in his back in the midst of a preseason game at Seattle in August.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Romo went to practice in a t-shirt and shorts. He took part in throwing drills with his teammates who were in full pads.

Although it is highly unlikely that Romo will play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, his recent appearance and participation in practice can only mean that Romo is a step closer to his anticipated return. Dak Prescott has taken over the quarterback position for the Cowboys since Romo's injury.

With Prescott, the Cowboys have won five straight games, and currently hold a season record of 5-1. Prescott is set to face another rookie quarterback in Carson Wentz of the Eagles on Sunday.

In the L.A. Times report, Romo appeared to be throwing at full pace during Wednesday's practice. Romo was listed as a "nonparticipant" on the practice report, but he allegedly engaged in drills involving passes on the run.

ESPN's Todd Archer wrote about Prescott's statements regarding Romo on practice. Prescott claims that Romo "looks sharp" every time he appears for practice. Romo has also allegedly been "doing stuff behind the scenes."

Cowboys wide receiver, Dez Bryant also expressed his appreciation for Romo. Bryant stated that Romo's participation in practice motivates the team.

For the past two weeks, Romo has been doing resistance training for his rehab. Romo has also been adding to his throwing program in the recent weeks.

The Cowboys have not released an official statement regarding whether Romo or Prescott will start once Romo returns from injury. With the recent events, it seems as though Romo is recovering soon, so the decision will have to come before long. Will Romo regain the starting quarterback position once he recuperates?
