'Uncharted' Movie Is Now Back On Track With New Director; Sony Pictures Announce Shawn Levy To Take Over The Directing Duties

Sony Interactive has just released the 4th installment of the best-selling series "Uncharted" and it seems that they are not planning to launch another installment. Instead, Sony Interactive is now developing the "Uncharted" movie.

According to the report made by the Game Rant, Sony Pictures has just hired Shawn Levy to direct the upcoming "Uncharted" movie. Shawn Levy is one of the best directors who is highly notable from his works such as the Real Steel, Night at the Museum and the Netflix series Stranger Things.

Recently, the "Uncharted" movie was announced back in 2008. In the mid of 2010, it was David Russell, who was hired to direct the film, but unfortunately, he stepped down to direct the movie called Silver Linings Playbook. Russell was replaced by Neil Burger of the Limitless movie, but he was removed after a while.

It was confirmed by the Collider that Joe Carnahan already wrote the draft of the scripts for the "Uncharted" movie. As of the moment, there is no timeline for the release of the "Uncharted" since Sony is focusing on Bad Boys For Life movie as of the moment.

As for the cast, CNET reported that Winona Ryder is rumored to have a role in the upcoming "Uncharted" movie. Though there is confirmed actor to play the as Nathan Drake yet, Gerald Butler and Jeremy Renner are among the top suggested actors to portray the lead part.

"Uncharted" is a long time running video game series published exclusively for the Sony Playstation. It was first released back in 2007 for Playstation 3 and already had 3 sequels. Nathan Drake as the main protagonist of the game has become one of the iconic video game characters was being labeled as the male version of Lara Croft of the Tomb Raider series.
