'The Last Of Us 2' Release Date: Confirmed 4K, 30fps Version For PS4 Pro Underway; Sequel Could Take Three Years To Complete

"The Last of Us 2" release date rumors confirm that Naughty Dog has yet to decide on the sequel's fate. Despite the clamor and years of waiting, developers have claimed that they haven't proceeded with anything connected to "The Last of Us 2."

It was previously reported that Naughty Dog could start working on "The Last of Us 2" and finally confirm its release date after wrapping up "Uncharted 4" work. Months have already passed since the PS4 game was launched, but there is still no sign of "The Last of Us 2."

If there is any consolation, Naughty Dog has confirmed the release of "The Last of Us" remastered version on the new PS4 Pro. As GameSpot noted, the game has been updated to better suit the features of the new Sony console. The remastered version will reportedly run in 4K at 30fps. Users can opt to play the game at 60fps, but this will limit the display resolution to 1080p.

Meanwhile, rumors are running wild about "The Last of Us 2" having new lead characters. There have been talks that the original's protagonists, Ellie and Joel, could possibly not return to the sequel as the follow-up game might explore a new storyline.

Fab Newz; however, noted that "The Last of Us 2" will still be a horror survival game. The outlet claimed that since Neil Druckmann claimed that it took his team almost three years to complete the first game, the sequel might also take the same amount, if not more, time to create.
