UFC Fight Night 98 On the Ground: Oliveira and Arantes Penalized for Violation During Weigh-ins; Alexa Grasso Debut Against Clark

The UFC is back once again in Mexico. This time via FS1's UFC Fight Night 98: On the Ground. The event which is set to take place in the Mexico City Arena will feature former lightweight king Rafael dos Anjos mixing it up against Ultimate Fighter 13 winner Tony "el Cucuy" Ferguson.

Both fighters didn't have any trouble in making weight with dos Anjos coming in at 156 and Ferguson at 154. In a strange twist of fate though, Charles Oliveira weighed in at 155. No big deal except that he is scheduled to face Lorenzo Lamas at featherweight making him nine pounds over the limit for the division. Lamas came in right on the limit of 146. The fight will push through but Oliveira will be penalized with 30% of his purse going to Lamas for the violation.

Fellow Brazilian and teammate Felipe Arantes also came in two pounds over the weight limit of 136. Arantes is scheduled to fight Erik Perez in the prelims. Like Oliveira, Arantes will be fined with 20% of his purse going to Perez.

Other notables in the card for Saturday night UFC Fight Night 98: On the Ground are Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner Diego Sanchez (156) banging with Marcin Held (156) for the co-main event. UFC Fight Night 98 also marks the conclusion to the Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 featuring Martin Bravo (155) vs. Claudio Puelles (156) who both had no trouble making their respective weights.

Also set to make her debut UFC Fight Night 98 is Alexa Grasso, arguably the best female MMA prospect in the strawweight division where she is 8-0 fighting for Invicta.

She will be going against Heather Jo Clark (7-5) who is a grizzled MMA veteran and an alum of the Ultimate Fighter 20. She trains at Xtreme Couture alongside her friends Meisha Tate and Bryan Caraway.
