‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Cast, Premiere Date, News Update: Benedict Cumberbatch Consulted Tom Hiddleston? Find Out What The BBC Series Stars Discussed!

"Sherlock Season 4" star Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock Holmes) and fellow BBC star Tom Hiddleston had an important chat but it had nothing to do with Sherrinford or Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott). Instead BBC's Sherlock Holmes had other things to discuss with Tom Hiddleston.

AOL reports that prior to Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the role of Doctor Strange, who was somewhat kindred to his Sherlock Holmes, the BBC star consulted Marvel veteran Tom Hiddleston (Loki). Aside from getting advice from Tom Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch also spoke with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Captain America).

As a point of interest, Benedict Cumberbatch did get to share notes with fellow Sherlock Holmes Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After discussing "Sherlock" between them, AOL reports that Robert Downey Jr. gave Benedict Cumberbatch pep talks on joining Marvel as Doctor Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch was, however, quick to assure fans that "Doctor Strange" commitments in no way get in the way of "Sherlock." Marvel reportedly respects "Sherlock" commitments and, effectively, has no intention to railroad any BBC agreement.

On whether or not Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston spoke of Sherrinford Holmes at any point, the BBC stars probably did not. Radio Times reports that the "Sherlock" star confirmed that the BBC series fans will not see Tom Hiddleston playing Sherrinford Holmes.

While both the BBC and "Sherlock" co-producer and co-writer Mark Gatiss (Mycroft Holmes) teased Tom Hiddleston in Season 4, Benedict Cumberbatch revealed otherwise. Benedict Cumberbatch also revealed that once "Sherlock Season 4" Episode 3 is released, fans of the BBC series themselves will ask for a break.

Benedict Cumberbatch promised that fans will eventually understand why a hiatus after "Sherlock Season 4" Episode 3 makes sense. The "Sherlock" star did assure that the break will only be a hiatus and Holmes will possibly be back for Season 5.
