Stephen Hawking Says Aliens May ‘Destroy’ Humans: Will Mars Expeditions Cause Harm?

Professor Stephen Hawking says aliens might destroy humans to an extent that they look like bacteria in comparison. Reportedly, the scientist says humans should stop contacting Aliens or trying to find them as the discovery could be "the worst thing, ever to happen to humanity."

Hawking says that one day scientists might receive a signal from a planet like Gliese 832c, but they should be cautious of answering back as the consequences could be very deadly. He said in the new film: "If so, they will be vastly more powerful and may not see us as any more valuable than we see bacteria."

The scientist believes searching and identifying extra-terrestrial beings could be risky because aliens could be superior to humans and prepared for the inevitable rise of artificial intelligence, the Express.co.uk reported. Hawking recently spoke at the unveiling of the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, he said that the action of creating AI "could be the last, unless we learn to control the risks."

A number of Mars expeditions are carried out round the globe. Recently the European Space Agency and Roscosmos' ExoMars sent Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) on Oct. 19. It was designed to look at the gases from orbit and the Schiaparelli demonstration lander was designed to test landing technologies, but Schiaparelli failed, Space.com reported.

The ExoMars Mission is planning to send series of spacecraft to Mars to find the existence of life on it. If aliens do exist on Mars will it be a threat to Earth?

As previously reported, Elon Musk is trying hard on a legendary mission to colonize Mars. Musk claims Mars to be a second home to humans and claims there is no life on it. But, if Hawking's words have some truth in them then Mars Mission for human settlement would certainly bring threat to humans and the Earth.
