Android 7.1 Nougat For Xiaomi Mi4: Easy Steps To Download & Install

Xiaomi Mi 4 owners can now install the latest Android OS version, the Android 7.1 Nougat.

CyanogenMod Inc. has released CM 14.1 nightly builds for Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone along with few others like Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, LG G3, Moto G variants, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S5, OnePlus 3, and ZenFone 2 users. Some testers assure the safety of using the daily driver.

Xiaomi Mi 4 is tested for CyanogenMod 14.1 that is based on Android 7.1 Nougat source files, which includes most of the features from Android 7.1 Nougat. CM 14.1 includes features like themes, custom dpi, multi-window mode and better battery management.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 user needs CyanogenMod 14.1 , Google apps package and TWRP custom recovery. The user should make sure the phone is charged up to 80 percent as flashing custom ROMs takes lot of energy.

The user should not forget to unlock Xiaomi Mi 4's bootloader before installing the custom recovery. According to PC Tablet, the first major thing to do is to install TWRP custom recovery on Xiaomi Mi 4.

Download TWRP >> Rename it to "update.zip" >> move all three files to internal memory. Launch Updater app >> select "update.zip" file >> stat update. The phone will reboot.

The second thing is to install CyanogenMod 14.1 in Xiaomi Mi 4. The steps include: Download CM 14.1 and Google Apps >> move to internal memory >> reboot phone to recovery mode >> boot it holding volume up key and power key together >> tap Wipe in recovery mode and confirm.

Tap the Install button and select CM 14.1 file >> repeat it for Google apps file >> Reboot phone. At the end of the whole task, the user will witness a new boot animation with CyanogenMod logo. It takes some tie to boot for the first tie but, then users can see a welcome message. Xiaomi Mi 4 will have the Android 7.1 Nougat experience with CM 14.1.
