‘Conviction’ Cancellation: Hayley Atwell Legal Drama Done After 13 Episodes; To Find A New Home? ABC Confirms Real Status

Legal drama series "Conviction" is going to be cancelled on ABC after the 13 episodes ordered for the first season. However, reports said the show starring Hayley Atwell as Hayes Morrison, is not quite done and it may return for Season 2 but in another network. What was ABC's response to these rumors?

"Conviction" Season 1 has only 13 episodes and no additional scripts were ordered to keep the freshman season longer. With that, words have it that it is already heading for cancellation, backed by its low ratings.

According to TV By The Numbers by zap2it.com, "Conviction" premiered with a rating of 0.9 live plus same day among adults 18-49. Since then, the show's ratings have been declining. Last Monday, it hit a low of 0.6 and 3.64 million viewers, which is about 30 percent lower than "Castle" in the 10 p.m. timeslot.

While reports suggest that "Conviction" will only air up to Episode 6 that is scheduled on Nov. 14 and then take some time off the air, an ABC representative told E! News that all 13 episodes will air. The rep also confirmed that no additional episodes have been ordered yet.

"Conviction" star, Merrin Dungey, who happens to be the sister of ABC Entertainment Group president Channing Dungey, took to Twitter to quash the rumors about the cancellation of the ABC drama created by Liz Friedlander and Liz Friedman. She wrote, "@ABCConviction isn't cancelled. We are just doing 13 episodes this season. Trust me, I just spoke 2 ABC pres. America, however, may be."

When a fan clarified the news about "Conviction" Season 2 not happening on ABC and instead finding a new network, Merrin Dungey replied, "That's not true at all." What do you think?

"Conviction" airs every Monday at 10:00 p.m. on ABC.
