FOX New Series 'Star' To Premiere After 'Empire' Fall Finale; Queen Latifah And Benjamin Bratt To Star Lee Daniels’ Series

FOX Channel debuts Lee Daniels and Tom Donaghy’s new show “Star” on Dec 14, 2016, at 9 p.m. This will follow “Empire’s” Season 3 Fall Finale scheduled at 8 p.m.

According to reports, Fox Television plans to shift “Empire’s” final season from its original time. Normally, “Lethal Weapon” plays during the 8 p.m. slot, but with the arrival of the new film “Star”, the schedule has changed.

The new music drama “Star” revolves around the story of three young and talented singers desperate to start their careers and achieve stardom. “Star’s” lead cast includes the Academy Award-nominee Queen Latifah and the Emmy Award-nominee Benjamin Bratt to be joined by rookies Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Amiyah Scott, and Brittany O’Grady. Naomi Campbell, Tyrese Gibson, and Lenny Kravitz are also expected to grace “Star” with their presence ad appearance on the show.

FOX’s “Star” started casting Oct 2015 while the initial production began in Dec. 2015. The upcoming American musical drama “Star”, set in Atlanta, will consist of unique and original music, musical fantasies, and future dreams. “Star” will air 13 episodes of its first season.

Last May 4, 2016, Charles Murray was announced to become “Star’s” showrunner but after four months, he was replaced by Charles Pratt Jr. No further reasons were given except that the showrunners have creative differences.

A little earlier than planned – FOX released “Star’s” trailer for everybody to enjoy. Starting Jan. 4, 2017, “Star” will replace “Empire’s” spot for the winter season. “Empire” is said to resume on Spring.

Meanwhile, “Stars” new episodes will resume on its regular spot starting Wednesday, Jan 4, 2017, at 9 p.m. Watch the new “Star” teaser and share your thoughts about the new Fox Television show.
