‘Narcos’ Season 3 Spoilers: A New DEA Joins The Team; Is He Working For The Government Or A Mole Of The Cartel?

The third season of Netflix's hit series, "Narcos", will introduce a new character to the show. Will this new "Narcos" character with the government or secretly working with the drug cartels?

Deadline reports that actor Nicholas Gonzalez is cast in the third season of "Narcos". Nicholas Gonzalez will play a character named Lopez. Lopez is an American DEA agent who's said to be capable and has lots of experience dealing with the different drug cartels.

In an interview with THR, "Narcos" showrunner Eric Newman has said that "Narcos" will continue even after titular "Narcos" villain, Pablo Escobar, has died. Eric Newman also emphasized that "Narcos" is not just about Pablo Escobar but really about the drug cartel and all its inner workings.

In the upcoming third season of "Narcos", the Cali drug cartel will be introduced. "Narcos" showrunner Eric Newman shared that unlike the Medellin cartel where Pablo Escobar clearly identified himself as an outlaw, the Cali drug cartel has a more organized system. The Cali drug cartel has politicians, law enforcement, and other economically powerful people that helped and fuel their drug operations.

Heading the Cali drug cartel are the four so-called godfathers of the cartel. These are brothers Miguel (Francisco Denis) and Gilberto, Pacho Herrera (Alberto Ammann) and the shadowy fourth only known as "Chepe". All of them met their ends badly as with all those in the drug business.

With the introduction of Nicholas Gonzalez' character, Lopez, in the third season of "Narcos", there is uncertainty whether Lopez is a clean DEA agent or in the pockets of the Cali drug cartel. Or it Nicholas Gonzalez' Lopez character could be working for a competing drug cartel or his own agenda. It should make for an interesting twist in "Narcos" season 3.

Besides the recurring role of Nicholas Gonzalez in "Narcos" season 3, the actor will also be seen on the finale season of "Pretty Little Liars" as returning "PLL" character, Detective Vic Furey. He will also reprise his role as Cisco Ramon's older brother, Dante Ramon, in "The Flash".

"Narcos" season 2 is still streaming on Netflix. The third season of "Narcos" is slated to premiere this coming 2017.
