Conor McGregor Named First Dual-Weight Champion, Earned $50,000 Bonus? Defeated Eddie Alvarez With K.O. In Historic UFC 205 Victory

Conor "The Notorious" McGregor made history for becoming the new two-weight world champion after winning the recent UFC 205 lightweight bout. Additionally, reports claimed that McGregor landed an added bonus for his "performance of the night." To recall, UFC 205 ended with McGregor defeating Eddie Alvarez via a knockout victory.

McGregor's overwhelming UFC 205 victory made him the first and only dual-weight champion of today, DailyMail reported. "The Notorious" who had won four of his last five fights is now carrying the lightweight title around his waist. This added to the featherweight crown he currently holds which he won at UFC 194 against Jose Aldo.

McGregor is also believed to receive $50,000 extra payout for his UFC 205 "performance of the night" on top of his earning, Mirror reported. He previously collected $3 million from his fight with Nate Diaz in UFC 202, so it is expected that his figure will stretch a bit for his recent fight with Alvarez. That said, his purse for the UFC 205 is suggested to reach around $5 million.

Meanwhile, "The Notorious" took home the lightweight championship belt after finishing off Alvarez via K.O. at 3:04 of Round 2, MMA Fighting reported. McGregor seemingly held complete control of his UFC 205 fight as he made combinations that dropped his opponent. Though Alvarez tried to advance, McGregor was still able to dominate the match as the crowd cheered for his every move.

The crowd's cheers then went louder as Referee John McCarthy stepped in and stopped the fight. And for most awaited part of the UFC 205 night, McCarthy declared, "History!." McGregor was announced as the winner and the first UFC fighter to hold two championship belts at the same time.
