Miesha Tate Retiring After UFC 205 Loss, Says Ronda Rousey Will Follow Her And Retire Soon

Miesha Tate ended her rollercoaster career yesterday after losing to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205. So Miesha Tate shocked everyone, from the crowd in Madison Square Garden to viewers watching at home, that she will be retiring from the sport she has loved for more than a decade. Fans are now speculating whether Ronda Rousey, a known rival of Tate, will also be retiring soon.

Miesha Tate will end her career with a record of 18-7, according to Yahoo Sports. In her statement after her loss at UFC 205, "It's not my time right now, I've been doing this for over a decade," Tate said. "Thank you so much for being here, I love this sport forever but it's not my time anymore." This was an unexpected announcement, as just last week Miesha Tate, announced her willingness to fight with her longtime rival Ronda Rousey.

Miesha Tate has lost to Rousey twice in the past, once while in Strikeforce, and once in UFC. Despite Tate wanting to fight Rousey again, it was decided that Holly Holm would be fighting Rousey instead. Holm gave Rousey her first loss ever. Misha Tate was able to defeat Holly Holm March of this year in the UFC 196, and she was finally able to win the UFC Bantamweight Championship.

But in July 2016, during UFC 200, Misha Tate lost the Bantamweight Championship to Amanda Nunes. That loss and the loss to Racquel Pennington yesterday in UFC 205 caused Miesha Tate to announce her retirement from the sport.

The former bantamweight champion predicted that Ronda Rousey will soon announce her retirement. Rousey is all set to battle Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. But Miesha Tate says that once Rousey loses to Nunes, Rousey, who has only suffered one loss in her career, will soon be following Tate and will retire, as reported by Inquistr.
