'NCIS' Season 14 Cancellation Update: Mark Harmon Out, Michael Weatherly In? Anthony DiNozzo's Return Might NOT Be Enough To Save The Series?

"NCIS" has been gracing the small screens for over a decade but rumors have it that the series is following the fate of "The Vampire Diaries," "Grimm" and "Black Orphan." Yes, the CBS's show could be on its final run as reports are rife that "NCIS" Season 14 is canceled. Meanwhile, the production is trying to revive "NCIS" season 14 by bringing back Michael Weatherly to reprise his role as Anthony DiNozzo in the popular TV series.

Parent Herald previously reported that "NCIS" and "Criminal Minds" share the same fate. The two popular American drama TV series might bid goodbye to the small screens for good. "NCIS" Season 14 and "Criminal Minds" Season 12 are reportedly doomed.

"NCIS" fans are hoping that the series will continue for more seasons and the production is finding ways to accomplish this. According to Headlines & Global News, Michael Weatherly who plays Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo is returning in "NCIS" Season 14 but Mark Harmon will be leaving the TV series.

With regards to Michael Weatherly's return in "NCIS" Season 14, many are doubtful if it will change the continuous drop of the show's rating. "NCIS" has a solid and stable fanbase that are actively supporting the show. Thus, Anthony DiNozzo's return might not be a big deal anymore.

When Michael Weatherly left "NCIS" the production brought a number of new characters that successfully filled the void brought about by Anthony DiNozzo's absence. In fact, viewers of "NCIS" Season 14 are slowly moving on from DiNozzo. Thus, Michael Weatherly' return in "NCIS" might not be a big deal anymore. It won't change the show's ratings.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that with Michael Weatherly's potential return in "NCIS," another cast is about to take his departure. Mark Harmon a.k. a Leroy Gibbs in "NCIS" is reportedly leaving the show due to poor ratings. Some sources claim that Mark Harmon has another TV series on his plate. Some sources claim that his departure in "NCIS" is due to health concerns.

On the other hand, TMZ reported that Mark Harmon is leaving "NCIS" because his dog named Dave bit one of the crew. The incident resulted in the hospitalization of the said "NCIS" crew who had 16-stitch wound recovery.
