Gaming News and Updates: Nintendo Announces Release of “Super Mario Run” for Mobile on December 15

Here's good news for Nintendo fans who are happily walking down memory lane. After the release of the Nintendo Mini NES Classic, gaming company Nintendo has just announced that a new game for mobile, "Super Mario Run," will be available starting December 15, 2016, for $9.99.

"Super Mario Run" for mobile has three modes of play, but you would have to buy it to access all the levels, Geek reported. The game features the well-loved plumber, Mario and his brother Luigi. "Super Mario Run" for mobile will bring back memories of hours of playing the "Super Mario" game on Nintendo game sets.

"Super Mario Run" for mobile will be a runner, with Mario running to the right. The game is initially available on the iOS. There has been no word when the "Super Mario Run" for mobile will be available on Android.

According to Doug Browser, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Nintendo of America, the game was "developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, 'Super Mario Run' brings a new take on the series' beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time," a Nintendo article read.

"Super Mario Run" is the first Mario Brothers game that was developed specifically for mobile devices. The game has Mario running on his own. The player can tap the screen to jump and hold for longer jumps. Other moves include evading enemies, collecting coins, and other moves.

Nintendo and Mario Brothers games go a long way since the first Nintendo Famicom. This year, Nintendo is scoring big with the introduction of the augmented reality game "Pokemon Go," as well as the release of "Pokemon Sun and Moon" for the Nintendo 3DS family of consoles.

Developers expect sales for "Super Mario Run" for mobile to be brisk. It is not yet known if the game is available for pre-order.
