Sam Heughan and Mackenzie Mauzy are sparking dating rumors after attending a red carpet event together. This news was met with mixed reactions from fans of the Starz time traveler series, which resulted to some harsh comments on social media. The "Outlander" Season 3 actor recently stepped in and defended his rumored girlfriend.

"Outlander" actor Sam Heughan has been tied to a number of dating rumors with different ladies, including his co-star Caitriona Balfe and most recently, Mackenzie Mauzy. Dating rumors between Heughan and the "Into the Woods" actress began after they were attended the BAFTA Awards together.

This sparked speculations that Heughan and Mauzy were more than friends. Several fans, however, were against the thought of Heughan dating someone else other than Balfe that they have resorted to online bullying.

The "Outlander" Season 3 star was quick to respond to these criticisms and defended his rumored girlfriend via a Twitter post. While Heughan's gesture was thought to put an end to the online bullying, this further sparked speculations that Heughan and Mauzy were dating in real life.

Meanwhile, Express reports that filming for "Outlander" Season 3 has already begun. This means that viewers have only a couple of months left before the Starz drama drops new episodes on air.

"Outlander" Season 3 will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book titled, "Voyager." This will see Jamie and Claire reunite after parting ways in order to save their daughter, Brianna.
