‘Empire’ Season 3, Episode 6 Recap: ‘Chimes at Midnight,’ The Most Shocking Twist Nobody Saw Coming [SPOILERS]; A Snake Among The Lyons?

"Empire" Season 3 is back filled with music and drama, with Empire Records facing a big hacking crisis internally and of course within the Lyons, as a shocking twist reveals a snake among the "Lyons." Episode 6 "Chimes at Midnight" perfectly describes betrayal of a son to his father. This article contains spoilers, so you are warned.

The latest episode of "Empire" Season 3 deals with the conflict among the Lyons, especially between Andre and Hakeem and of course Lucious. A quick Google search and the title of Episode 7 "Chimes at Midnight" fits like a puzzle to this season as one of Lucious son is the mastermind behind the hack on Empire Records.

Empire was hacked: Secrets leaked, including Cookie's "cookie"!

In "Empire" Season 3 Episode 6, everybody was minding their own thing when suddenly Tiana's crappy single blurted out of their phones and iPads. Lucious received a cryptic message revealing that the company was indeed hacked. Andre went on to hire one of the best IT specialists in town, only to find out that it was an email server hack sending Tiana's single as an email attachment.

The hacker became more serious when a ransom was sent to the head of the Lyons demanding "$1 million every hour on the hour." Of course, knowing Lucious, he doesn't negotiate with terrorists.

Meanwhile, Cookie was out supporting from a distance Angelo announcing his campaign for Mayor, when she had to leave for an urgent board meeting. The board was willing to pay the ransom until Andre stopped them dead in their tracks by exposing their money laundering secrets going back when his uncle was alive.

The NBI didn't miss out on this opportunity to finally bust the Lyon's when Cookie's cookie was displayed for all the world to see, until Lucious threw a chair to the monitor.

Culprit 1

Suspicions were solicited as Lucious tried to narrow down who was trying to destroy him, which was almost everybody else. But the top of the list included Tariq, Shine, and Vaughn, who rejected teaming up with Lucious in the past.

It all boiled down to Gram, when they found "sufficient evidence" incriminating of the massive hack on Empire Records. Despite the evidence, he denied everything. But Shine showed up and Lucious asked him to deal with it.

The real culprit: A Snake among the Lyons

When "Empire" Season 3 Episode 6 was about to wrap up, Andre took Nesa to his secret meet up with Vaughn, showing her how much he trusts her. Turns out, Andre orchestrated everything, from the hack to the frame-up. He wants his father and Empire Records to "need him" and Nesa will be part of the plan as they will be "powerful" together: he the brains and she the talent.

Then again, Cookie realized she is in love with Angelo, after breaking up with him thinking she could protect his chances of winning the election. And Tariq found intel into Frank Gather's death.
