'One Direction' Laim Payne Talks Louis Tomlinson Baby News, Shocked At First? Star Dishes About Brianna, Zayn Malik [Details]

One Direction has taken more than its fair share of surprises this year - ranging from the unexpected decision of former member Zayn Malik to abandon the band right in the middle of their tour to the news of Louis Tomlinson's pending fatherhood. In an interview with Magic Radio's Jo Parkerson, Liam Payne opens up about the recent changes in the lives of the One Direction boys.

On Zayn Malik's departure

Looking back on the time they spent with the fiancé of Perry Edwards, Payne realized that the kind of music done by One Direction is not something Malik would enjoy on his own. "One Direction was never Zayn's sort of music so he always wanted to find something else," he shared, according to PEOPLE.

Meanwhile, Irish Examiner reveals that although Payne admits that he has not spoken to Malik as of late, the 1D member shared that he believes his former bandmate is "off doing his own thing and taking his time."

"It is a difficult thing to leave the band," Payne said, referring to Malik's move to abruptly withdraw from the One Direction tour - a move that shocked not only his fans but also Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Tomlinson and Payne themselves. He added, "But his heart wasn't in it and you have to go with your heart and say, 'I can't do this any more and there is something out there that I do want to do that is different', and that's fine."

With news that Malik signed with RCA recently, Payne admitted that he is "dead excited" to see what the former One Direction member comes up with. Citing his past experiences with Malik, he shared that the two of them used to "stay up late and do rap stuff which is quite interesting, because I like to produce rap beats and stuff." He added, "He's got a great voice and he's a very talented young man and we wish him all the best of luck."

On Louis Tomlinson's baby with Briana Jungwirth

Although Payne admits that the news of a One Direction baby coming soon "shocked" him and the rest of the One Direction boys, they are all "very excited" for Tomlinson's first child. Praising his bandmate, Payne shares that Briana Jungwirth's baby daddy is definitely taking his responsibilities seriously and aims to become a good father to his child. He disclosed, "He's (Tomlinson) very excited with what's going on with him at the moment and I feel that stuff like that happens sometimes. He's taking it very seriously.
