US President-Elect Donald Trump Claims To Halt Ford’s Move To Mexico But Did Ford Really Plan To Move Out Of The US?

US President-elect Donald Trump took credit on Thursday that he has successfully halted Ford's move to Mexico and keep its Lincoln plant in the state of Kentucky. Ford, however, denied they never had such plans to begin with.

In a tweet, US President-elect Donald Trump proudly said he received an "advise" from his friend Bill Ford, who is currently the Chairman of Ford, that the company will stay in the US. He further added that he "worked hard" to stop Ford's move to Mexico and that he was able to do it with the support of the people of Kentucky.

However, some things appear to be inconsistent with the tweet of US President-elect Donald Trump. Ford revealed through an official statement on Thursday night that they never confirmed anything about Ford's move to Mexico. Neither Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, the plant that produces Lincoln Navigator, nor the company's Louisville Assembly Plant, which manufactures the Ford Escape and the Lincoln MKC will be moved to Mexico.

In an official company statement, Ford said: "Today, we confirmed with the President-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly Plant will stay in Kentucky." Ford further added that they are "encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve US competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States."

During a follow-up email exchange, a spokeswoman from Ford revealed that the production of MKC models is scheduled to move to Mexico. Mark Fields, the chief executive at Ford, reiterated that Ford's move to Mexico from Michigan is still bound to happen.

It seems that this is not the first time that US President-elect Donald Trump has claimed credit for something that Ford has not actually planned or done. Trump also jumped on the issue about Ford's move to Mexico in October 2015 and claimed credit about halting the "plan" and convincing the company to have its plant in Ohio instead.

Do you think Ford will move out of the US soon? Post your reactions and comments below.
