‘Gossip Girl’ Star Committed Suicide; The Actress Is Allegedly Battling Depression

"Gossip Girl" actress Lisa Lynn Masters was found dead in her hotel room in Nuevo Mundo in Peru. The star was reportedly struggling with depression before she decided to take her own life before midnight on Thursday.

The 52-year-old actress Masters who starred in other huge TV shows such as "Ugly Betty" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" hanged herself to death as per a report from Mirror. Her husband William Brooks was shocked to hear the news of her death according to Ani Manison, a friend who helped organized a GoFundMe page for the actress.

Masters' GoFundMe page already hit £24,000 goal within the first day of its posting. The collected funds will be used to help Brooks pay for the star's funeral and for her body's repatriation to America. Brooks works in Brooklyn as a practitioner in healing arts.

In Masters' fundraising page, their friend Mason wrote, "Our dear friend Lisa Masters passed away tragically and unexpectedly." "In the midst of this mourning, William faces daunting financial challenges, including the substantial funeral and transport expenses for Lisa in and between Peru and the United States," Mason added.

Meanwhile, Masters left two letters that apparently discussed her mental conditions which were found by the authorities from the South American country's capital Lima. There were also medications revealed such as diazepam and antidepressant drugs, The Sun reported.

The actress is said to be on a modeling tour in Peru when she suddenly gave into depression and committed suicide. Her most recent projects were the films "Fishbowl" and "The Girl in the Book" in 2015 according to her IMDB profile.

Masters appeared in the fourth season of "Gossip Girl" as Bryn Harold and she also starred in "Ugly Betty" as the crying museum curator. The actress also landed a project with "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" as Tina Heller though her appearances in the given shows were only short. Check out Masters in the video below.
