'Pokémon GO' Thanksgiving Update: Double XP, Stardust And More Bonuses In New Event To Bring Back Players?

Niantic makes sure that loyal players, at least, will be retained by rolling our new update. This time, a Thanksgiving event will soon happen.

Summer has been memorable for Niantic as it is the time when "Pokémon GO" was crazed about and was installed on millions of handsets from players around the globe. The game's popularity may have weakened gradually but with the Thanksgiving event coming, it may possibly attract players to come back.

The Thanksgiving event of "Pokémon GO" will start on Nov. 23 and will conclude on Nov. 30. The event is marked as an American holiday, but players outside the United States are assured that they will get the same amount of perks during the event. In order to keep the event generic, the people behind "Pokémon GO" labeled the event as "A Celebration to Say Thank You."

As obviously depicted in the title, players are to get a lot of surprises in the event. "Pokémon GO" trainers will have a chance to double the experience points (XP), which is very important to level-up. Furthermore, Stardust, used to power-up a Pokémon, will be given to players as well.

This is not the first time Niantic has organized an event for "Pokémon GO." It was just a few weeks ago when they held a Halloween event that gave players more hours of gameplay with added in-game candy so that they can evolve their Pokémons fast.

The Thanksgiving event ignites hope that "Pokémon GO" will regain the players that did not continue the game. According to data of Apptopia, the game's player base surged to about 45 million active users during its peak popularity, but has lost more than 15 million in just a month.

Niantic made several moves to bring back the lost players, but they have not succeeded much. The developer is hoping that the Thanksgiving event will add more reasons why "Pokémon GO" has to be played still.
