'Deadpool 2' Ryan Reynolds Hires 'John Wick' Director David Leitch

Less than a month after Director Tim Miller dropped out due to creative differences with "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds. "John Wick" Director David Leitch has closed the deal and will be helming "Deadpool 2."

Although the studio had other directors such as Rupert Sanders, Magnus Martens and Drew Goddard on their to-meet list, David Leitch was offered the "Deadpool 2" job soon after he met with Reynolds in New York. According to THR, Fox and the producers are also currently working on "Deadpool 3" and is searching for another filmmaker to helm the franchise but no names have been mentioned yet.

New "Deadpool 2" director, David Leitch, has spent years as stunt coordinator and second unit director. He has also worked on superhero projects in the past like "X-men Origins: Wolverine" where Ryan Reynolds first debuted as Deadpool. Fans didn't like the film and how Deadpool was unchatty in the movie, but the actor recently emphasized of a mouth mercenary.

Leitch recently finished filming "The Coldest City," a Cold War thriller. However, he will still have a few more busy years ahead because he is also going to work on "Cowboy Ninja Viking" starring Chris Pratt and "Valiant's Bloodshot."

After a very successful movie, wounding up $782.6 million worldwide, Tim Miller who directed the first "Deadpool" surprisingly left the project on October because of a creative disagreement. It was said that Miller wanted "Deadpool 2" to be like a traditional superhero film while Ryan Reynolds wanted it to feel like a low-budget film.

Another issue was their different opinion about casting of Cable, a time traveling mutant and the tone of "Deadpool 2." But screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who are continuing the project had the same point of view with Ryan Reynolds and wanted to stick to Deadpool's scrappy roots.
