‘Cars 3’ Movie Trailer, Release Date, & News: Disney Pixar Lightning McQueen Gets Into Major Accident? Too Traumatic for Kids?

Disney Pixar's hit animated movie "Cars" is coming back for a third instalment. And the recently released "Cars 3" movie trailer hints that Lightning McQueen, the movie's heroic #95 red race car, is going to get into a major accident. Rumor has it that this might be a bit too much for kids, or too traumatic even.

The 50-second "Cars 3" movie trailer from Disney Pixar shows a race track full of high-speed cars darting towards the finish line, and Lighting McQueen is seen tumbling and flipping before the teaser trailer ends with the words "from this moment, everything will change."

According to Forbes, the 50-second "Cars 3" movie trailer shows highly improved graphics compared to the original "Cars" film back in 2006. Despite it being a movie for kids, the "Cars 3" movie trailer has a degree of seriousness and dramatic feel to it.

According to Variety, "Cars" garnered $462.2 million from the worldwide box office and was even nominated for an Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. Disney Pixar's "Cars" also won a Golden Globe Award for Animated Feature Film.

The "Cars" sequel, "Cars 2," didn't disappoint the franchise in the worldwide box office, garnering $562.1 million in 2011. However, despite beating the first movie's worldwide box office, it was the first film by Pixar that was not nominated for an Oscar award.

Variety also reported that the story of "Cars 3" movie focuses on Lightning McQueen enlisting a new character, Cruz Ramirez, as his technician and partner when decides to compete against a new generation of race cars to prove that he can still go up against newer cars after being set aside by the racing world. Mater, Sally, and Ramon from the previous "Cars" movie franchise will reprise their roles.

"Cars 3" movie was first revealed in 2013 and was announced to be released in summer of 2017. Reports say that the movie will open on June 16, 2017.
