‘The Late Late Show’ James Corden Will Host 2017 Grammy Awards; British Comedian to Replace LL Cool J

James Corden, the host of "The Late Late Show" and Carpool Karaoke, will host the 2017 Grammy Awards on February 12. This comes on the heels of his successful stint as host of the Tony Awards.

According to BBC, the 38-year-old actor and comedian is set to replace LL Cool J who hosted the Grammy Awards from 2011 to 2016. Before becoming a big name in the United States, "The Late Late Show" host James Corden already had a following in the UK as the star of "Gavin and Stacey."

"The Late Late Show" host James Corden had also been the host of "The Brits" from 2011 to 2014. Corden has won an Emmy Award for his work on "The Late Late Show" for outstanding interactive program.

"The Late Late Show" host James Corden is also famous for his "Carpool Karaoke" segment. This is a standout idea which has created a cult following. It has had more than 20 stars and celebrities on the segment. It starts off with "The Late Late Show" host James Corden introducing the guest and they drive around discussing things and singing the guest's hits or favorite songs.

According to Variety, the segment's archive of clips has more than 2 billion hits on YouTube. Some of the most popular guests on Carpool Karaoke were Adele, Michele Obama, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, and Lady Gaga. In July, Apple bought a spinoff of "The Late Late Show" host James Corden's "Carpool Karaoke," to be distributed through its Apple Music platform.

Besides his popularity, Grammys executive producer Ken Ehrlich has described "The Late Late Show" host James Corden as a captivating host whose "musical background, personal charm, persona and comedic instincts will resonate with [the] audience." The Grammy nominees will be announced on December 6.
