'The Last Guardian' Release Date, Latest Update: Get To Know The Tattooed Boy, Trico And Why The Creature Is Fumito Ueda's Greatest Accomplishment

"The Last Guardian" took nine years to develop and so its expectations have grown so much that its debut trailer immediately became viral as soon as it hit the U.S. market this week. The title is about to be launched in a couple of weeks, but here are juicy details every gamer should know.

"The Last Guardian" is the closing chapter of a trilogy that has started in 2001. The title had undergone several issues, including its unavailability for PS3 and its change of studio.

Avid players who are also tuning in on the latest updates of "The Last Guardian" are familiar with Ico, which was introduced for PS2. The main character partners with a girl named Yoda as they combat enemies and navigate the ruins of a castle. Then, after four years is a prequel titled "Shadow of the Colossus," which features almost the same visual effects, but has the same gameplay that everyone enjoyed.

"Shadow of the Colossus" replaced the old "Ico" fortress for a land occupied by 16 giants. Main character Wander and his horse named Agro are the focus of the game. However, it was noted that Agro overshadows the role of Wander, which is different from the focus of "The Last Guardian."

"The Last Guardian" is believed to blend in the many features of the two earlier titles. This time, a tattooed hero is acquainted with a creature named Trico, which is described as a hybrid of a bird and a cat.

"In creating Trico, I didn't really have to do any specific research because it's a creature that obviously doesn't exist. But it's really all based on my childhood memories, the way I interacted with the animals, the way they reacted to me," said "The Last Guardian" creative director Fumito Ueda in an interview with PlayStation Blog.

Ueda further said that Trico is his proudest accomplishment in "The Last Guardian." The creature's behavior and everything about it is something that has never been created by the team, a new character that has been hard to create. He expressed his thought about the players being able to experience what it feels like to be with the character. For instance, how they feel when feeding Trico.
