'Avatar 2' Latest Updates, Release Dates And Rumors: Lead Actors Demanding A Surge In Fees

The highly anticipated sequel of the successful science-fiction "Avatar" will now be witnessing a delay in its release. Director James Cameron, who has hinted the line-up of several sequels has expressed the possible snag in the release of "Avatar 2" due to differences in the payment of the lead actors.

According to reports by Christian Today, the lead actors of the movie, including Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, are demanding an increase in their paycheck owing to the grand success of the first film that won several accolades by critics. The movie made a collection of $2.7 billion worldwide. Rumors suggest that the lead actors are unwilling to continue working in the film if their demands are not met.

Earlier, director Cameron had expressed his plans for the grand sequel, "Avatar 2." Cameron intended to introduce state-of-the-art filming technology for the movie, which would enable the audience to enjoy the experience of 3D watching without exclusive glasses. "I am going to push for better tools, workflow, high frame rates and high dynamic range. Through a brighter projection, I think we can get there-with no glasses," he added during the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers Centennial Gala.

In addition, Gack Hollywood cites that the director James Cameron might consider replacing the lead cast if they do not budge from their demands. However, this move would prove costly for the success of the movie as the sequel's main focus would be Jake and Neytiri. But reports suggest that the lead actors from the first movie, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang are already confirmed for the "Avatar 2" movie. In the first movie, "Avatar" Sigourney was seen playing a scientist while Stephen Lang was seen as the antagonist.

"Avatar 2" is scheduled for release in 2018 along with three other sequels which will be followed in the years 2020, 2022 and 2023.
