"The Blacklist" Season 4 spoilers are teasing on the connection of Reddington (James Spader) and Liz (Megan Boone). In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp explained that Red and Liz's connection is only the beginning of it all.

"For me, it was never so much about is he her father or is he not - but why is this young woman so important to Raymond Reddington," he said.

This seemingly quashes all hopes for a "Lizzington" pairing on "The Blacklist" Season 4. Many fans have been wondering if Red was treating Liz in a special way because he had romantic feelings for her; thus, the "Lizzington" 'ship name.

However, if Liz and Red really turn out to be a daughter-father relationship, then it may change the way fans view "The Blacklist" Season 4. There have also been rumors that the show will no longer be renewed for Season 5.

TV Series Finale reports that the show has experienced a drop in ratings since "The Blacklist" Season 4 premiered in September. The show's average ratings is 1.15 in the 18-49 demographics, which is 19.19 percent lower than that of the previous season.

The good news, however, is that "The Blacklist" Season 4 midseason finale experienced an increase in the ratings. This means that the show can still redeem itself as long as fans continue to be vested on the plots and storyline.

"The Blacklist" Season 4 returns in 2017 on NBC.
