Ciara Post-Baby Weight Loss: Find Out How She Dropped 60 Lbs In Four Months, 'I Feel As If I Can Conquer The World'

In 2014, when 29-year-old R&B singer Ciara became pregnant with son, Future, she ballooned. But now, after following a regimented routine for four months, the new mom shared her secrets to losing 60 pounds in the September issue of Shape Magazine.

The star, who admitted that she ate like "Tasmanian Devil" while she was pregnant, said that she didn't exercise immediately after giving birth. She waited until her doctor advised her to get into training, and when that finally happened, she hopped on the treadmill daily.

"I worked out two or three times daily. I would go to Gunnar [Peterson] first for my one-hour training session, then I'd have two more cardio sessions later in the day. That, along with a really clean eating plan, was how I lost 60 pounds in four months. It was a very intense program, and I was extremely focused on it," the singer told the magazine.

"Gunnar puts me through an hour-long plyometric cardio circuit that always includes boxing elements," she added. Ciara also admitted to enjoying her fitness training because it not only tones her muscles, it also promotes cardiovascular and mental health. "You have to be superfocused when you're boxing. After I've done a few rounds, I feel as if I can conquer the world."

Her trainer has also helped Khloe Kardashian's own weight loss and fitness journey, according to People Magazine. The news outlet also reported that Ciara only eats five to eight "nutrient-packed, low-carb meals" a day. However, she doesn't shy away from eating other foods she wants including french fries. "When I'm on a strict eating regimen, at some point I have to have French fries, a cheeseburger and some pizza. And Oreos and vanilla ice cream!" she shared in the interview.

Ciara, however, admitted that her views on eating have changed since getting into a fitness program. When she has a craving, she would sometimes pause and ask herself if she has to eat everything. "Do you really need to eat all this crazy stuff? It will still be around if you want it later."

Gaining 60 pounds during pregnancy is apparently not healthy, according to the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, whose guidelines stated that the recommended number should be between 25 to 35 pounds for normal weight women. But with some determination, Ciara was able to lose the pregnancy weight and return to the path to fitness.
