'Jane The Virgin' Season 2 Spoilers: Britney Spears Confirmed To Guest Star, What's Her Role?

Oops, Britney Spears did it again. She will be returning to acting on TV. The mom of two will be the guest star in the upcoming season of the CW's "Jane The Virgin," according to Los Angeles Times. Spears announced this on her Twitter on Tuesday. She wrote, "See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue."

On the same day, the "Toxic" singer confirmed her appearance on the show. CW President Mark Pedowitz also told reporters that upon finding out that the pop princess loves the comedy-drama television series, creator Jennie Snyder Urman and CBS Studios decided to invite her to join the show.

The news was well-received by the public, including lead star Gina Rodriguez. According to USA Today Life, upon finding out about the news, Rodriguez, who received recognitions as 72nd Golden Globe Awards Best Actress - Television series for the said show, tweeted with the following:

Rodriguez was asked by one of her followers on how excited she is that Spears will be part of the show, and the actress gamely addressed the question with a tweet saying, "I mean scale of 1-100. 1,000,000,000 boom."

According to the report, Urman said in a statement that the guest star will appear in season 2's fifth episode as Rogelio's nemesis. The report also said that actor Jaime Camil, who plays Rogelio in the series, is "looking forward" to working with Spears.

Moreover, according to People, Gina's on-screen leading man, Justin Baldoni, did not miss to welcome their guest star as well. He turned to Twitter and expressed his hospitality, even warning the "Baby One More Time" singer to not be eerie if she finds his poster of the said album.

Spears appearance in the said show will be her return to the small screen. Her acting experience includes cameo roles in "How I Met Your Mother" and "Will & Grace." She also had a reality series, "Britney & Kevin: Chaotic."

"Jane the Virgin" second season will premiere on October 12, Monday, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
