The life-saving baby boxes pioneered in Finland was just introduced in this parts of the region to reduce the high mortality rate of infants. This lifesaving "Baby Box" has drastically reduced cot deaths abroad and has recently been introduced in the Black Country and West of Birmingham.

Demand for health care rises and the revolutionizing proposal is believed to not only transform the way healthcare services is administered to the public but also to save thousands of pounds in the long run according to PR Newswire.

25,000 appointments were made possible through investing in GP services. To ease the pressure on the expensive accidents and emergency departments, many of this investments were made on the same day as cited on Birmingham Mail.

Accidents and Emergency units will also be embedded with GP services to reduce waiting times as much as possible.

A potential amount of £413 million is expected to be saved through implementing the sustainability and transformation plan, or STP, in councils, hospitals and health care providers that are located somewhere in the Black Country and West Birmingham. Including Cities, Sandwell, Walsall Manor and Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital.

According to Andy Williams, one of the lead architects of the STP, "In the Black Country and West Birmingham we have a diverse and changing population and demand for health and care services is growing and evolving.

"We need to work together to meet these challenges within a tight financial envelope. The Sustainability and Transformation Plan enables us to do this in a way we could not do as individual organizations."

He repeatedly stressed that a consultation with the public and community groups about what the STP truly is would happen before it is completely implemented in all healthcare units.

Also: "By tackling waste, improving standards and working together, we can avoid a potential increase in health costs of over £413 million per year by 2021. This will give better value to the taxpayer, equivalent to £680 a year for every household in the Black Country and West Birmingham."
