Keira Knightley Opens Up About Motherhood; Shows Daughter Edie [First Look]

Three months following the birth of her daughter, "Imitation Game" star Keira Knightley opens up about becoming a mother in the latest issue of Elle Magazine.

In the feature, the 30-year-old British actress finally revealed the name of her baby. She and husband, James Righton, call her "Edie," and the new mother described her love for her child as "very, very primal love."

"The love thing is astonishing. It's a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary," she said. "And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It's not pleasant—I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I've done it," she told Elle.

Keira also said that since having Edie, she has gained self-confidence. "As a woman, you hate certain parts of your body. You go through those periods where you look in the mirror and you think, Oh, if only I had different legs or arms or whatever." She added that when she went to pregnancy, labor and feeding her baby, she realize that her body is "totally amazing" and "extraordinary."

Turning 30 years old earlier this year while she was in the third trimester of her pregnancy, Keira also said that she's happy to be moving on from her twenties. "I don't think my career will ever get better than it was in my late teens, early twenties. But as a person, you're changing so much and you're trying to figure stuff out."

In her next phase of trying things out, the actress is set to make her debut on Broadway via the play "Thérèse Raquin" opposite Gabriel Ebert, Judith Light and Matt Ryan. The show is set to open on October 29, with previews on October 1, according to Broadway.

In June, Keira announced that she gave birth, according to E! Online. However, because the actress has been mum about many things in her private life, the actual birthday of Edie is not known.

The full story on Keira will be out in Elle Magazine's September issue.
