Parenting 2016 News: Mother Who Left Toddler In A Washing Machine Lost Sole Parental Custody

A boy was allegedly left in a washing machine as his mother hid inside the bedroom to escape his screams. After an 11-day court hearing, the mother lost sole parental custody over the boy. Additionally, she is banned from taking his son overseas.

The boy was only two-years-old when his mother left him in a dark laundry room and got away with his screaming. His parents have been separated since 2012 but it's only recent that his father got full custody over him. They separated when the mother left to travel overseas without notifying her ex-husband and son.

Judge Josephine Willis of the Federal Circuit Court in Cairns ruled in favor of the boy's father but also allowed the mother to spend time with her son during weekends and holidays. However, the mother is not allowed to take his son out of the country. Apparently, the boy's name was posted on airports watchlists.

Judge Willis revealed that the mother reportedly attempted to accuse his ex-husband falsely by coaching his son about what to tell the court about his father. "It is overwhelmingly clear that the mother is attempting to run a major smear campaign against the father and that she has used the child in these efforts in a direct way," Judge Willis said according to a report from Courier Mail.

The judge also said that her evidence was "exaggerated, distorted, manufactured or otherwise tailored to suit her case." In addition, it was also claimed that the mother inflicted violent harm on her ex-husband's teenage kids. She reportedly called his daughter a "psycho like her father" and then kicked and punched the girl.

Moreover, there was also an incident where the mother reportedly chased her ex-husband's other son who has Asperger's syndrome with a stick with feces, Daily Mail reported. Apart from what she has done to the children, she also admitted to trying to sell his ex-husband's prized boat after hiding it for months.
