Brittany Pilkington Confesses To Killing 3 Sons To 'Protect' Daughter

A Bellefontaine mom has confessed to killing her three sons in order to "protect" her daughter.

Brittany Pilkington of 868 Sandusky Ave. admitted to killing her three sons. He was charged by authorities with three counts of murder according to a report from the GazetteXtra.

Logan County Prosecutor, William Goslee, said that the kids were killed using a comfort blanket either in their crib or bed, over a period of 13 months, because Mrs. Pilkington wanted her husband to give more attention to her and her daughter.

"In her mind, she was protecting her daughter from being not as loved as the boys were by their father," Goslee said to the Columbus Dispatch.

Mrs. Pilkington received charges for the deaths of Niall Pilkington who died on July 22, 2014 at three months old, Gavin Pilkington who  died April 4 this year at four years old and Noah Pilkington who died Tuesday at three months old.

According to GazetteXtra, Prosecutor Goslee said that he would not likely seek for a death penalty, considering Mrs. Pilkington's background. She was reportedly dominated by her husband, who was nearly twice her age and was her "semi-stepfather," being her mother's live-in boyfriend prior to their marriage.

The Columbus Dispatch added that state marriage records showed that Mrs. Pilkington married her husband, Joseph, in March 2010 when she was only 18 and he was 38. Gavin was born that June and the three other kids followed quickly.

Goslee said that Brittany feared how the boys would grow up and described Hailey, her daughter, to be her only friend.

"It was her plan to eliminate male children in order that this father would have more attention available for her and for Hailey the daughter," Goslee said. "That's a fact."

According to the Washington Post, Niall's death raised a small alarm. After all, the news site says, "tragic accidents happen." Then, when Gavin died, officials became suspicious of what was happening. However, they had no evidence to support any claim.

Noah and Hailey were put under protective custody as police and the Logan County coroner's office were investigating the death of Gavin. Because there was not enough proof to determine the cause of the boys' deaths, the surviving kids were returned to the Pilkingtons.

Jim Pilkington, Joseph's brother, said that "there was no proof of foul play."

The arrest happened after Mrs. Pilkington called 911 to report that Noah was "not breathing." He died six days after they were returned.

During questioning regarding the child's death, Mrs. Pilkington admitted to killing all three of her sons.

A neighbor, Roger Robinsons, said, "It makes me sick just thinking about it, three little kids killed at the hands of their mom."
