Nintendo Switch Accessories Leaked By EB Games Australia; Items Taken Down Moments After; Confirming USB-C Cords for Console?

In a shocking turn of events, an Australian website apparently leaked accessories for the next-generation console from Nintendo. Rumor has it the Nintendo Switch will sport USB-C cords instead of the standard USBs. The EB Games website had to take down their posting of Nintendo's accessories. So, does this move confirm rumors?

According to Nintendo Wire, the information regarding the use of USB-C cords was never confirmed nor denied by Nintendo, despite the supposed leak of Emily Rogers. However, a third party may have confirmed this by posting accessories of the console on their website, but taking it down later.

The description on the Australian website that "allegedly" leaked the Nintendo Switch USB-C cords was EB Games Australia. In their website, the description of the so-called USB-C cord for the new Nintendo console reads: "USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable compatible with the Nintendo Switch Console." However, as of this writing, the page no long exists.

Meanwhile, Press Start Australia noted that the three @play products comprised the Starter Pack, Starter Pack Plus, and an Extra-Long 3M Charging Cable for Nintendo. Further, Nintendo's two Starter Packs included a Go Case, two screen protectors, and a cleaning cloth, with the secondary containing the earbuds. What was interesting is that the charging cable this may have confirmed that indeed Nintendo Switch could be using USB-C.

Using the USB-C would allow electricity for be converted from a USB-A. This is a more current type of connection utilizing USB 3.1 for faster charging, per Destructoid. But the USB 3.1 is a new industry standard transferring more data and power simultaneously than its predecessors, while USB-C connectors don't have a "wrong" orientation like a standard USB does.

Nintendo has not released any information regarding the events. In the meantime, fans and gamers will have to wait until the console Nintendo Switch hits stores beginning March 2017.
