'Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite': Captain America, Morrigan Confirmed As Characters

Captain America and Morrigan have been confirmed as two new additional characters for the upcoming "Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite" video game.

Their addition to the game was confirmed in a new extended gameplay trailer. Captain America and Morrigan can be seen performing the new tag freestyle mechanisms, which have replaced the assists that were present in previous games, Capcom has confirmed.

Besides the character reveal, the trailer from Marvel also showed 30 seconds of additional extended gameplay, with new footage of Mega Man X as well as several properties of the Infinity Stone, according to Yahoo! News. It is unknown as of this time if there will be more characters added to the game's existing roster.

Sony recently announced "Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite" at their press conference during PlayStation Experience 2016. The game will be released sometime in 2017 and be made available in PCs, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.

The trailer presented at the event sees Ryu and Mega Man teaming up against Iron Man. The two are seen firing projectiles, with Ryu charging himself while running. Out of the air, Ryu and Mega Man X successfully get a hold of the Infinity Stones. Later on in the trailer, Captain Marvel makes an appearance, where she takes Iron Man's side. Together, they fight off Rye and Mega Man to the finish.

The Infinity Stones have long been a plot thread in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Game Spot. It also goes all the way back to Capcom's own Marvel Super Heroes saga, wherein players accumulate these numerous powerful stones in order to boost up one's powers during combat.

Previous reports have suggested that "Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite" will be drawn heavily from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means it will not feature any characters from X-Men. This has yet to be confirmed.
