'Black Mirror' Review: 3 Episodes Inspired From Real Life Events; Check It Out!

“Black Mirror” is a Netflix original that focuses on the satire and dark side of modern society. However, the anthology series doesn’t only attempt satire but also recreates real life events, here’s some examples.

Blackmails do happen in real life. Remember season 3 episode 3 titled “Shut Up and Dance?” A young man was blackmailed when hackers hacked his laptop’s camera and caught. A case also happened to an Australian man.

The victim’s laptop camera was hacked and he was videoed masturbating. The hackers asked for $10,000 or they’ll spread his video in his office, as reported by Daily Mail.

Yes, people can watch whatever you’re doing through your computer’s camera. One of the most famous cases is Luis Mijango who was prosecuted for spying more than 200 women through their webcams. He even went to the extent of blackmailing them.

“Nosedive,” which is episode 1 of the third season is also based in real life circumstances. The episode showed the viewers of the reality of how people rank one another. This is true considering that even some governments, such as the Chinese government, ranks their citizens, as reported by The Wrap.

Of course, who would forget the premiere episode of “Black Mirror,” right? The episode was titled “National Anthem.” The plot involved the kidnapping of a princess. To save her, the kidnappers demanded that the British prime minister should have sex with a pig.

The first episode was not based on a kidnapping and pigs, but it was based on the fact that politicians will do anything just to get the voter’s votes. Politicians can go as far as humiliating themselves just to get the seat they want and that’s one of the most realistic take-ups of the show.
