Police Arrests 70-Year-Old Husband Of Woman Running Home Daycare For Molesting A Child

A 70-year-old man, who is the husband of a woman running a home daycare, has been arrested for molesting a child. The parent of the alleged victim filed a complaint against the man leading to his arrest.

The man was identified by sheriff's deputies as 70-year-old Millard Johnson. The child was not identified but was said to be under five years old.

The child's gender was also not released by authorities. The parents of the child claimed that Johnson touched their child inappropriately on several occasions while the child was under the care at the home daycare center, Wave 3 News reported.

The daycare center is located in western Vanderburgh County and while the investigation is ongoing, the daycare center remains open and operating. There are around six children under the care of the couple at their home in Upper Mount Vernon Road at Evansville's west side.

Authorities said that the father of the victim raised his concern after Johnson asked if the child could sit on his lap. The father felt there was something wrong regarding the matter and talked to his child to further reveal details.

The suspicions of the father, although not elaborated, were then confirmed. How Johnson touched the victim inappropriately has not been detailed. The father of the child then contacted authorities prompting the investigation and the arrest.

The child was further interviewed and a forensic interview was also made. The child reportedly revealed two incident, which authorities believe are criminal in nature.

Johnson reportedly admitted that he molested the victim. He remained in custody at the Vanderburgh County Jail as he awaits his first court appearance, Tristate Homepage reported.

Meanwhile, the Department of Child Services is involved in this case. It is unclear what charges Johnson is facing and it is also unknown if there were other children that have been molested by Johnson.
