This Is What Happens When Friendship Meets Autistic Teen

Isaiah Upshaw is a sports enthusiasm but he is autistic and who also has problems speaking. He tried joining their school's basketball team but was unsuccessful. But a senior in high school who was a member of the basketball team, Matt, offered to teach Isaiah. Since then they have been inseparable and formed a strong bond as their friendship developed. Matt trained Isaiah on the basics of the game, mastering the 3 point shot. Eventually, Isaiah made it to the junior varsity team, and in his first basketball game, he had his moment.

Isaiah pinned two 3 point shot moves when he got the chance according to BBC. Nobody else is happier than his friend Matt who was content being in the background while Isaiah was happily celebrating his hard earned success. They practised this move for a year. This is a classic example of how hard work and persistence can transform what seemed to be a failure in the beginning into victory. His love for basketball did him wonders. This is how important it is to note that a person's disability should never be a hindrance in achieving aspirations and goals in life.

Wind To His Wings

Matt Tweeted Ohio HighSchool about this triumphant event in his friend's life. He is responsible for teaching Isaiah and now he has become an icon for selflessness. Their friendship speaks more about one's empathy and compassion which Matt had so much in him, that he sacrificed his time just to help his friend. He says it makes him happy just seeing Isaiah reveling at his personal achievement.

Isaiah's mom, Iesha Upshaw, was very happy for her son's success as well. She expressed that her son loves basketball so much. Isaiah is a follower of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving and wants to "be like Kyrie when he grows up."
