‘Destiny 2’ News: Vicarious Visions Joins Bungie, Activision In ‘Destiny’ Sequel

Bungie and Activision have recently recruited Vicarious Visions to help in the development of the "Destiny" franchise started by the "Halo" creators.  Vicarious Visions is best known for the creation of "Guitar Hero," "Skylanders," and "Gameboy Advance" editions entries for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. 

Vicarious Visions, a New York-based game developer, made the announcement on Facebook saying "Vicarious Visions is excited to announce that we are partnering with Bungie to further expand the Award-Winning Destiny Universe."

Vicarious Visions will be working alongside "Transformers" developer High Moon Studios in this project.  High Moon, whose developers contributed in the making of 2014's "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare," was brought in by Bungie and Activision into the "Destiny" circle last year. 

Although exactly what content Vicarious Visions and High Moon will be working on in the shared world shooter franchise is not yet known. But most likely they will be responsible for bringing "Destiny 2," the sequel to additional platforms like the PC, Xbox One , and PS4, according to VG247.  According to an earlier announcement from Activision, "Destiny 2" is scheduled to be released in 2017.

"We're on track and really excited for what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017," said Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg in November in a report by Shacknews. "That sequel is designed to both excite our highly engaged current players but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back lapsed fans."

"Destiny 2" release on PC would definitely go a long way in realizing Activision's dreams of widening "Destiny" fan base.
